What are dental veneers?
Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are affixed to the surface of your teeth. They are powerful and effective methods to instantly improve the look and feel of a smile. They can straighten and perfect smiles without a patient having to undergo the long process of orthodontic treatment. They can also correct the shape of teeth without a patient needing to experience crowns or bonding. Veneers are also highly effective ways to whiten and brighten teeth and smiles in a lasting way.
Though veneers can be excellent ways to correct and transform a smile, they can also be cost-prohibitive. We can help you determine how much this treatment might be, as well as what coverages you might have via your individual insurance carrier.
What is the process of getting veneers like?
After the initial consultation in which we agree that dental veneers are the best treatment to improve your smile, we will require two appointments for the veneers to be completed. During the first appointment, we will take measurements of your teeth using our advanced technologies and send the scans to a company, which will custom make your veneers. During the second appointment, we will remove a thin layer of enamel from your teeth to make room for the veneers, which we will bond directly to the surface of your teeth.
How long do veneers last?
When well cared for and maintained, veneers can last for more than 10 years. It is important to continue to floss and brush around your veneers regularly, just as you would with your regular teeth. We recommend avoiding biting directly into hard foods with your veneers, as this could cause damage or breakage. If you experience chipping, cracking, or other damage associated with your veneers, schedule an appointment as soon as possible with us so we can repair them.
Be sure and attend regular dental exams with us every six months so we can check in on the health of your teeth and veneers. We will take that opportunity to ask you if you have any issues, answer any questions about the proper care of your veneers, and ensure that your oral health is still on track.
